Meaningless

from Neil T. Anderson's Victory over the Darkness:

"The book of Ecclesiastes describes the futility of humankind pursuing a meaningful life in a fallen world without God. Millions of people climb those ladders of "success," only to discover when they reach the top that their ladder is leaning against the wrong wall."

Whether or not Solomon wrote the book of Ecclesiastes (my OT teacher reckons he probably didn't as it sounds more like a criticism of Solomon) I am very tempted to quote the whole book in this post because it's just so good! But for time's sake I will only quote one verse. It's such an awesome book. I got to know David and Solomon a bit last year through 1&2Samuel where I got to read about their testimonies. I wasn't very impressed by Solomon. I like to think he was a wise person because God said he was but he still remains a very controversial character to me. The book of Ecclesiastes seems to support this view describing him as someone who too many times sought to find purpose and meaning in life independently of God.

The Lord has been so good to me these past few weeks.

He has blessed me with his peace, great friends, a new job, opportunities to grow in maturity and love for others and gave me great great comfort and strength. Not that it's been easy but without Him I wouldn't make it very far in that process.

I never want to live my life independently of Him. He is too precious.

No matter what the enemy says and his ways of trying to scare me away from God, here is the truth onto which I stand: Christ who is in me is stronger than the one who is in the world! He gives me power and victory over sin & death and NOTHING and NO ONE can separate me from the love of God in him.

I am the Lord's and nobody else's.
