For those who might wonder about the big gap between my old "Goodbye" post and yesterday's "I'm back" post, fret not! I didn't become a hermit or wander around a desert for months. Quite the opposite, in fact. Life did happen and got surprisingly busy.
During and after my "summer sabbatical", God did incredibly surprising things and before I had time to say "Uh?" I had moved to a new city, started a new job, had to buy a new wardrobe, found a new church, turned 27 and lost 4 pounds. Madness. I also made some new friends and got to reconnect with some older ones, which has been quite nice.Today I'm in BED for the third day in a row (post-migraine fatigue). I decided to get up this morning but after an hour of bible reading, tea and singing I felt sick and went back upstairs. Being stuck in bed is SO boring - it's hard to find something to do that's useful, helpful and entertaining at the same time when there isn't much energy in your body.
So, since my attempt at entertaining myself has failed so far, I thought I'd try and entertain others. Perhaps blogging might be the answer. So here I am , killing the boredom by the blogdom.
So where did I move? And what is it like?
In case you didn't know already
, I officially left Ireland's green shores last September to move across the pond to similarly green shores, but this time a little further South, a little further West: to the mighty OXFORD.Ah, Oxford,I hear you say... The city of saints and scholars, of dreaming spires, of CS Lewis and Tolkien; Oxford and her gazillion pubs, cafés, students and the (sometimes literally) unavoidable bicycles.
(note: my camera died the day I moved here so all I have to offer are either royalty free web photos or ones stolen from friends' blogs)
It's good craic - most days anyway. I still feel nostalgic/homesick about Ireland sometimes, and probably always will. I left a piece of my heart there and many of the people and things I love.
God has given me lots of homes and he knew what he was doing each time. I trust he knows what he's doing with this one too. "All the way my Saviour leads me..." says the old hymn.
Now, back to my sickbed. I've a very exciting conference to get to tomorrow... More to come!
