better than i

today, overall, was a good day.

i got a chance to tell the children a little bit about God this afternoon while watching a disney-ish movie based on the story of Joseph (recorded in Genesis chapter 37 through 50). i'd never seen it before and thought it was OK. the producers did their best i think to stay true to the original story - with a few adaptations *of course*.

God is mentioned a lot during the first 1/5 of the movie then it all becomes about Joseph etc and at the end of the film you forgot there was even a God involved in the story at the beginning, which i thought was a bit dope.

BUT anyway i am thankful for as i said it led to a nice conversation with the children about God and about his relationship with Joseph. the songs in general were a bit weak except for one at the beginning which is, unfortunately, not very well-sung. even connor said to me, "this guy is a bad singer". lol!! i love children and their honesty.

the song addresses God directly. it was SO much better than all the Lazytown crap previously heard in the morning, "believe in yourself! there's no point in crying, you gotta keep trying, cos soon you'll be shining.... you gotta belieeevveee in yourself!". lazytown is a lame-o kids programme on nick junior, by the way, for those of you who may not know (i assume the majority!).

so anyway, connor was sitting in my lap and singing along so i thought i'd tell him a bit about what the lyrics meant:

there is so much truth in those lyrics. God does indeed know far better than i do - he is so BIG, so powerful and sovereign. he holds the whole universe in the palm of his hand...how much more will he take care of the smallest details of my life? if i let go the need to know why, let him reach me and teach me and take the answers that HE will supply. :)
