i'm teaching sunday club this week. i always feel nervous when it comes to teaching little children. i mean i love sunday club - the kids are adorable and we have a lot of fun learning more about God together.
this week is the first of the "Easter series" about Jesus' death and resurrection.
i am nervous because this week God appointed me to tell those kids about something i myself don't fully understand: why did Jesus have to die?!
how do you explain the wonders and mysteries of Calvary to 3 and 4 year olds without 1) underestimating their capacity to understand 2) manipulating their answers to questions 3) doing less teaching and more entertaining 4) getting it completely wrong!
"let the little children come to Me" (Jesus Christ)
this verse sort of calms me down. Jesus wants those children to come to him, and he is drawing them one by one with his love....it's not all about me, the nervous and unqualified teacher, He is at work in them. *breathes*
i am so excited for those boys and girls and for the chance for them to ponder those marvellous truths. :-) i pray for wisdom, and for the Holy Spirit to move in our hearts and blow our minds once again this sunday.
