the Cross

"Christ suffered for our sins
once for all time.
He never sinned,
but he died for sinners
to bring you safely home to God."

(-the Bible, first book of Peter)

Thank you, Jesus, for dying on that cruel Cross. Thank you that though you were God, you did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, you gave up your divine privileges; you took the humble position of a slave and were born as a human being. When you appeared in human form, you humbled yourself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. You, who were innocent and blameless, took my sin and crushed it there. Thank you for opening the way to the Father for such a rebellious creature as me.

What a love, what a cost! I stand forgiven at the Cross!
